In summary
Hi, I’m Bayley Petry, a consultant working across project delivery, change management, and product & service design.
I specialise in turning complex organisational problems into clear, practical solutions that teams can implement and scale. My work often focuses on improving systems, processes, and products by understanding how they operate from the ground up and simplifying them so people can actually use and adopt them.
While my background is in design, my experience sits across delivery, strategy, and transformation—helping organisations bring clarity to complex systems and implement change in ways that work for both teams and users.
I focus on designing systems people understand, trust, and want to use.
How did I get here
I was most recently a Senior Consultant at EY Studio+, EY’s global design and innovation practice, where I spent nearly three years working across large-scale transformation and product initiatives, primarily in the retail and public sectors.
During this time, I progressed from intern to senior consultant, gaining experience across delivery, design, and strategic consulting environments.
In consulting settings where design is often introduced late or treated as a support function, I developed a reputation for applying human-centred thinking to complex programmes. This helped teams better understand large systems, improve engagement, and deliver change more effectively.
I designed and delivered user-centred product and service improvements across several large transformation initiatives. This included delivering in-person training to 250+ managers during a national software rollout to support organisational adoption, and establishing feedback loops between users and product teams that generated 67+ product improvements, benefiting 22,000+ users, alongside the BAU model that sustained this work.
I also led the 0–1 design and development of a data product that was adopted across 160+ businesses. Alongside delivery work, I contributed to major consulting bids by developing strategic narratives and pitch materials presented to CEOs of leading multi-billion-dollar organisations and government ministers, helping secure tens of millions of dollars in engagements and receiving internal recognition and awards.
Through this work, I became trusted to operate independently in ambiguous environments while supporting both delivery teams and senior stakeholders.
How I do it
My path into design and consulting wasn’t linear. After initially studying commerce, discovering I had dyslexia reshaped how I approach learning, communication, and complex systems.
It reinforced a simple belief: systems should adapt to people, not the other way around.
Today that perspective shapes how I work. I focus on simplifying complexity—reducing cognitive load, clarifying processes, and designing products, services, and systems that people can quickly understand and confidently use.
In team environments, I’m often relied upon to translate complex ideas into clear and practical narratives. Through visual thinking, facilitation, and structured storytelling, I help teams align around problems and move forward with confidence.
Where did I learn this
I hold a Bachelor of Design Innovation from Victoria University of Wellington, majoring in Interaction Design with a minor in Marketing, graduating with a B+/A- average (UK Upper Second Class, 2:1).
Alongside my studies, I gained early exposure to real-world work through student-led consulting, volunteering and roles across media and experiential agencies, building strong foundations in user research, communication, and public engagement.
